Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Terengganu Kampus Bukit Besi is the 36th campus of UiTM and the 2nd campus of UiTM Cawangan Terengganu after Kampus Kuala Terengganu which was first developed in 2009 on the site of 120 hectares. With starting cost of RM110 million, the campus have two main program that focus on Science and Technology area which are Mechanical and Chemical Engineering programmes. Construction of the campus is in line with the desire to achieve enrollment of 200,000 UiTM students in 2010 at that time.

The campus was opened and began the operation for the diploma programs in June 2013. UiTM(T) Kampus Bukit Besi which is well-known as Kampus Rekreasi Bukit Besi (KRBB) has also introduced a new elective in Mechanical Engineering program which is the Naval Architecture. As Diploma in Chemical Engineering program joining in the campus, placing and recruitment of students for the first phase is 1,500 students.

For the first phase, UiTM KRBB has been developed as much as 30 percent, which includes dormitories, food courts, library, administration building, academic block, lecture halls, and laboratories. The next phase will be continuously developed for the next project focusing on construction of sport center, mosque, and multipurpose hall. UiTM(T) KRBB was handed to the management of UiTM Cawangan Terengganu by JKR on March 27th, 2013 which was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of UiTM, Prof. Sr. Ir. Dr. Suhaimi Abdul Talib and the Director of the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Malaysia, Dato 'Haji Mohamad Shafii.
